Sunday May 3rd

Babies Situation:

Today was a good, quiet day. The babies were both sleeping peacefully when we arrived at the NICU. It is so cute to see them swaddled in their blankets. They look so comfy and cozy, no arms or legs thrashing around. Only a few changes were made today which were on their feedings. Trinity is now getting 6cc's/hr and Kinsley is getting 9cc's/hr. They are both tolerating them well. Tonight, Trinity weighted 3 lbs 5 oz which means she won’t have to be monitored by the nellcor monitor anymore. The nellcor machine monitors the heart rate and if she is low or high sating. Now, all her vitals will be measured on the big monitor that hangs above her bed. As for Kinsley, she also has great news. She is officially 3 lbs 1oz. Yeah!!

Parent's Thoughts:

What a great week!! This week has been full of many small but wonderful changes. The Girls are back on feedings, they are over 3 lbs, they are now wearing preemie diapers, and they are big enough to be swaddled. Thank you God!! All of these are small steps forward but again we need to be careful not to get too excited. The famous “one step back” is awaiting us. From what we were told, Dr. Untalon will most likely keep things the same for Monday but Tuesday may hold some more big changes like trying Trinity on cannula (a step up from the CPAP machine) and moving both girls to bolis feedings (feeding them once every 3 hours). We’ll need lots of prayers this week for another good week.

Our Daily Encouragement:

In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength.... The Lord longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him.

Isaiah 30: 15,18
