March for Babies - Huge Success!

Family and Friends,

The March of Dimes was a huge success. Thanks to all of your support, we collectively raised more than $2,500 to help other families. Thank you so much for the continued support.

With lots of Love!

Babies Situation:

Trinity is back to feeding (yeah) - 5 cc's every 3 hours. Thank you God. The antibiotics seem to be working as she is very active again compared to past couple of days. She has also been breathing very well and is back to 21% at a pressure of 7 on the CPAP. She has few bradys or apneas since being back on the antibiotics and we hope the worst is behind her on the infection front. Doctor Lynn and Dekowski decided to do a lumbar test today to ensure she does not have meningitis. Unfortunately, they were unsuccessful in hitting the appropriate area to get an accurate test. She gained and now weighs 3 lbs 7 oz today.

Kinsley looked great. Her breathing gets better by the day. Since she does not have an IV in she is able to start wearing some clothes. Our Nurses (Andrea and Crystal) dressed her in a white button preemie shirt with lambs on it - so cute (thank you as these little touches make such a big difference). We took some pictures and will get them posted. She also gained a bit and now weighs 3 lbs 4 oz. Along with her full feeds, she is now getting vitamins, iron, and more caffeine. Dad was able to change her diaper today (always an interesting experience).

Parent's Thoughts:

It was an incredibly rewarding and inspirational day for us. Austin held it's annual March for Babies walk conducted by the March of Dimes. Mom and Dad walked with the team from St. David's. All in all there were more than 8,000 people who walked today to raise money for the March of Dimes. Everywhere we looked we saw little miracles and other families who have been through what we are currently encountering. Many of the kids are older now and look great. Miracle after miracle today was filled with some amazing stories. I wish you could have all experienced it with us as it was extremely powerful. We had our close friends Peter and Candra join us for the walk and appreciated being able to share this with them. We hope to share this event with all of you in the years to come and can't wait to have Trinity and Kinsley participate as well.

Our Daily Encouragement:

How precious it is, Lord, to realize that you are thinking about me constantly! O can't even count how many times a day your thoughts turn toward me.

Psalm 139: 17-18

God bless you Trena. Happy 1st Mother's Day! Trinity and Kinsley are blessed with you as their mother, and Keith is blessed with you as his wife. You have gifted us our beautiful twin granddaughters. How lucky we are.

Thank you God for bringing Trena to the O'Brien family. We thank you for your kindiness, love, and faith, Trena. May God bless you always.

With all our love, Ed and Camille

  3. I'm so glad Trinity is feeling better and back on her feeds. This is awesome news! And it's great that they both continue to gain weight and are getting to wear some cute preemie clothes. I donated a lot of our preemie outfits to the St. David's NICU, so maybe Trinity and Kinsley will get some use out of them as well! ;)

I'm so glad you were able to walk in the March for Babies yesterday. We were there also, and it was truly amazing to see all of the babies and children. We bought Avery & Brooklynn NICU graduate t-shirts, and you will get to do the same next year!

Trena - I hope you had a happy and blessed first Mother's Day! You are a wonderful mommy!

    Love,
    Monica Willenberg
