Babies Situation:

It was another great day for the girls. Lots of news to report. Kinsley now weighs a whopping 4 lbs. 6 oz and is 17 inches long. Trinity hasn't changed in a couple of days and weighs 4 lbs. 3 oz but she is now 16.75 inches long. Due to Kinsley’s weight gain, her feedings increased to 41 cc’s over 1 hour every three hours. Her oxygen pressure on the nasal cannula was also decreased from 2 to 1 which is a big improvement. Good job Kinsley!! Both Girls are doing really well with their breathing. We did try to bottle feed Trinity again today. She struggled a little more today than yesterday but she did take 3 cc’s (1 more cc than yesterday). As we tried to bottle feed her, she fell asleep a few times and would forget to breath. She had a few A’s and B’s and needed to be stimulated a lot to help her focus. She did a lot of licking of her lips as she could taste the milk but was trying to figure out how to swallow it.

Parent's Thoughts:

With experiencing Trinity’s first two days of bottle feeding, we can tell it is going to require a lot of patience from us and a lot of hard work from the Girls. The bottle feeding will not come easy to them so we will start off very slow with trying 1 bottle feeding a day for around 10 minutes. It is a lot of work for Trinity (hopefully Kinsley too soon) which in turn wears her out fast. After 10 minutes, Trinity was spent and fast asleep. For some reason, it is somewhat stressful on us and emotional as we thought bottle feeding would come easy. It was hard to see her so tired as we kept trying to get her to take the bottle. I notice that Keith and I have gotten a little comfortable and forgot how trialing our situation still is. We will lean on God for patience and remember that it’s all in his hands. Thank you God for our sweet baby Girls.

Our Daily Encouragement:

And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God.

Deuteronomy 28:2

  2. I'm so happy for the progress the girls have made over the past few days. This is truly wonderful news!! It is very exciting that Trinity is now getting to try bottle feeds. It's very, very normal for them to struggle with it at first. Our Brooklynn really had a hard time with it, which is why she spent a week longer in the NICU than Avery. But, they will figure it out! One of the hardest things for us was that the girls would fall asleep when we tried to feed them (even after we brought them home). We would just strip them down to their diapers, tickle their toes, etc to try and keep them awake. It will all work out, and they will be drinking like pros soon!

    Hugs,
