Babies Situation:

It has been a really tough day for the girls - lots to report. Unfortunately, they both now have infections.

Trinity's infection is still unknown as it is too early with the results. There may be some fluid build up in the throat and/or the lungs. This is a concern moving forward. Our Doctor decided to give her antibiotics again to fight off the fluid. Like Kinsley, Trinity also had her feeding tube inserted through her stomach and into her intestine. Unfortunately, it was harder for the Doctors to get the tube inserted. In fact it took 4 hours to get it in the right position and Trinity needed to do some of the work on her own. She had another blood culture today, needed another blood transfusion, had to start a new IV, and needed eye drops. Late this evening Trinity decided to play a little game of catch with her nurse, Andrea. I witnessed it - 2 blowouts back to back while in process of a diaper change. It was so impressive that she lost 2 ounce and is now back to 1 lb 14 ounces. She will hopefully be back to 2 lbs soon. She even left a little excess for Mom to clean on her blanket. As we were leaving, Trinity decided to cause us more concern as she went into a cluster of DSAT's (Apnea's and Brady's).

Kinsley wanted out due her sister I guess, She has 2 infections - ecolie and (cons??? still need to verify what this is and how it is spelled). This is not the best of news but it is most likely due to the bacteria of the tubes. It is in the lungs so she is receiving drops through her throat as well as the normal antibiotics. She has had a couple of Apnea's but no clusters like Trinity. Our Doctors are hoping we can get these girls off of the ventilators asap but we are just not there yet.

Parent's Thoughts:

It was hard day for us. Infections are difficult for these little 24 weekers. We pray that the results for Trinity come back OK. If it has gotten into the blood stream they will have to take some additional measures. We should know within the next couple of days. These girls are strong but we hope they can start to register their breathing so they can be removed from the ventilators as this will help them progress and avoid more infections. We realize that this is just a setback and are very thankful that they are now 20 days old.

Our Daily Encouragement:

So then just as you have received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

Colossians 2:6-7
