Babies Situation:

The big news of the day comes when Grammpy, ED, got to meet his new grand daughters for the first time today. He flew in from Boston early in the day and was able to spend time with them in the NICU this afternoon. The girls definitely knew he was there and can't wait to hang with him at home.

Trinity was taken off the TPN/IV today. This is good news as she will be getting all of her nourishment from milk now. We also get good news that her blood culture results on her blood stream came back negative. They are both getting their food through their system well as this could pose problems with the intestine and what not. Trinity's feedings increased to 5.2 cc's continuously. She is getting closer to full feedings which will help her with her growth.

Kinsley is also slowly growing and is now at 1 lb 12 ounces. The Doctors hope to take her off of TPN/IV tomorrow. Great news is that her staph infection is slowly decreasing. She was having trouble breathing and needed more air so her ventilator settings have increased.

They are both still taking antibiotics for the Klebsiella infection and probably will need it for a while (7-10 days). They also monitoring for Staph infection but these same medicines should help. Over the past few days their nurses have had their hands full as they are consistently having to adjust their ventilators to help them with their breathing.

Parent's Thoughts:

It was great to introduce the girls to their grand father. As parents, it certainly is a blessing to have our family around.

It has been a little tough this week as we are working through the ups and downs. We know that the girls just need time. We hope that the medicines will help them get over these infections. Their lungs are good but being so small the infections are causing a setback for them. It is another difficult time to get through as parents as we can only sit back and pray that they are OK and are strong enough to handle everything thrown at them. The ventilators are good in one sense - getting what they need for breathing but also could present other issues down the road. Another day passes and they are still growing.

Our Daily Encouragement:

Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my sighing. Listen to my cry for help, my King my God, for to you I pray. In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.

Psalm 5: 1-3
