Babies Situation:
The Girls are 30 weeks gestation today – Praise God!!! To help celebrate, Michele, a phenomenal photographer, of Pinkletoes blessed us with her presence and came out to the NICU to take pictures of our little miracles. What an amazing job she did!! She was able to capture our experience in a very special way.

The babies also got their baths today. Unfortunately, we missed it but Andrea, one of the primary night nurses, let us know that they are starting to really enjoy their baths. She said that they were fully alert with their eyes wide open. As she talked to them, their eyes searched for her voice. Andrea even made them special little bows that she tied around their heads. How cute!! We love when our nurses do extra special things like this.
Today, Kinsley decided to follow her sister in having blood in her stool. Mom’s heart dropped as she excitedly got to change her diaper. The excitement ended quickly as the nurse rushed the diaper off to the doctor. Immediately, the doctor stopped her feeds and started the IV and antibiotics. What a set back but the doctor did predict that we would have at least 3 more issues with feedings.
Trinity is still getting her nutrients through the IV and is still on antibiotics. The doctor wants to watch her throughout the night to decide on whether she should stay on the TPN or go back to feeds. If he decides to keep her on the TPN, she will get a PIC line tomorrow.
On a good note, their breathing is improving daily. It seems like their lungs matured overnight as they stopped having as many A’s and B’s. Trinity was taken off her rate and is doing great. She is at 21% oxygen(room air). Yeah!!!! Kinsley is also doing well staying around 24% oxygen at a pressure of 9. Good job Girls!! We are so proud of you. Trinity did gain 1 oz. She is now 2lbs 10oz. Kinsley remained the same at 2lbs 5oz. Mom did get to hold Kinsley today. Kinsley cuddled up on Mom’s chest and took a nice, peaceful nap. What an amazing experience. Hopefully Mom will get to hold Trinity tomorrow!!
Parent's Thoughts:
The NICU Texas Two step is in full swing. It is frustrating and disappointing to have both Girls struggling with their feedings but we are thankful that the doctors have been proactive to protect their digestive system. We cannot afford to have any damage done to their intestines. Today is one of these days that we need to remember that God is in control. Our babies are still going strong even though they are struggling on the feeding side of things. You would not know that they are struggling with their feedings by looking at them. They look good!!!
