Babies Situation:

It was another good day. Dad was able to feed Trinity her 7 cc's today - not much to it but it was still a great feeling. She had a wide gap in her weight from morning to night - 1 lb 9 ounces to 1 lb 12 ounces this evening (not sure why there was such a big swing). Her rate has been OK while having fewer A's and B's today. Her tracheal culture came back negative. She is still a little bit behind Kinsley as she is still on the ventilator but she still weighs more. Hopefully, she can get off it soon and not have to go back on it.

Other good news - it seems as if both of them will be coming off of their IV's soon. Instead they will be supplementing their TPN/IV with Fortifier. It is a Human Milk Protein Powder that they will mix with Momma's milk before each feeding.

Mom was able to hold Kinsley again today. They both did well but we learned that rocking her could cause some dizziness to Kinsley since she is so small. Kinsley gained an ounce and now weighs 1 lb 8 ounces. She has had some clusters of A's and B's - for those who have not read previous posts A = Apnea (breathing stops) and B = Bradys (heart rate drops below 80 per minute) over the course of the day. We also got great news that her 2nd spinal tap (culture) has come back negative.

Parent's Thoughts:

It was another good day. Both the girls looked good. They are gaining weight and overcoming some of their daily challenges. I can't begin to tell how much of a difference even an ounce can make. As of now, we need to get them to full feeds and reduce the amount of A's and B's. We know it will come in time so we need to continue to be patient and know that they are making slow progress. It is very exciting as parents to be able to partake in some of the process - holding Kinsley (hopefully Trinity soon), taking temps, changing their tiny diapers, feeding them even if it is through their tubes.

Our Daily Encouragement:

We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May you unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you.

Psalm 33:20-22
