Babies Situation:

The day started well but things changed a bit early this evening.

Mom got to hold them both again today which was awesome. They both love when Mom or Dad comfort them by putting our hands over them while in their isolettes as well. Trinity is being her active sassy self, giving the Nurses a hard time when they are assessing her.

Later in the evening our Nurse found blood in Trinity's stool. She received 3 abdomen x-rays and early results show her internal organs looking OK. She has not been showing signs of being sick but our Doctor did decide to take her off of the the HMF (Human Milk Fortifier) to be proactive. They will be monitoring her closely and if things get worse she will have to go back on IV and Antibiotics and they will stop her feeds. She also received Epogen (EPO) today for the first time which will help her increase the growth of red blood cells and limit the need for blood transfusions. She will get EPO shots 3 times a week for the foreseeable future.

Trinity is now 14.4 inches long. The girls head sizes are identical at 9.3 inches in circumference. Kinsley's length is still in question this evening. Our Nurse, Andrea, didn't think that she shrunk since her last check which came in at 13.6 inches but it came in smaller. She is going to check her again tonight.

Trinity's feeding increased to 8 cc's continuous while Kinsley is at 6.5 cc's. Kinsley is doing better with oxygen and is now at 24% while Trinity is at 21% but is still on a rate of 20. As far as weight, Trinity came in at 2 lbs. 9 oz and Kinsley weighed 2 lbs. 4 oz. Kinsley is doing well overall.

Parent's Thoughts:

We have had so many consecutive good days and started to get a little comfortable with the situation. We were getting into a groove with the girls doing so well over the past week. The setback for Trinity has reminded us how delicate a situation we are still in. We ask for prayers that this will just be a small setback for Trinity and that this is nothing serious. I will report tomorrow about the possible outcomes as the Doctor fills us in on what is going on with her. Please keep the girls in your prayers and especially Trinity with this news.

Our Daily Encouragement:

O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.

Psalm 71:17
