Wednesday April 15th

Babies Situation:

It was a big day with lots to report. The girls are 1 Month Old Today.... (great work little ones).... It was a very big day for both of them. We had more visitors today and this evening, our close friends, Candra, Mike, and Sarah. Mike even got to see some of the changes made to Trinity real-time.

Since the girls were doing so well this week with their blood work results, our Doctors decided to remove them from their ventilators. They had been on them for over 2 weeks now and our Doctors thought it was the right time to make the move. They were put back on CPAP to assist their lungs/respiration. As their lungs continue to strengthen, the Doctors will reduce the amount of oxygen and pressure the machine provides to them. The goal is 21% on CPAP or room air with no rate and the least amount of pressure. We pray their lungs and breathing will continue to improve and they handle the transition to CPAP well.

Crystal and Andrea, their Nurses, had them today and tonight. Kinsley hit a big milestone herself today weighing 2 lbs. Trinity came in at 2lbs 5oz (another big gain for her). Trinity also had some big news. She is no longer on antibiotics as her latest cultures did not show signs of infection. Because of this, she had her IV line taken out. Hopefully, she will not need one the rest of the way. Trinity also had her central arterial line (catheter from her foot to just below her heart) removed this evening. The Doctors believe that Kinsley's infection is gone, but she is still on antibiotics for now until they are 100% sure.

We also met Connor, the proud father of Aiden, who was born on April 9th. Aiden is also a 24 weeker here in the NICU so he also needs all of your prayers. Congratulations to Connor and Megan (we hope to meet her soon as well).

Parent's Thoughts:

We owe a huge praise for all this good news. What a day. We were not expecting the girls to come off of the ventilators this quickly. On one hand this was great news for us but at the same time some anxiety kicked in about how the girls will do on CPAP. The weight gain and removal of the lines were also very positive signs. They are making very good progress this week. We just need them to continue to improve their breathing.

Our Daily Encouragement:

For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.

Jeremiah 31:25

  4. My heart is pounding while I am reading your blog, keep searching for the good news on your girls, and my prayers are going out to the girls, hoping they are getting healthier each second. As the mother of two, I do really understand how hard it is for your family to have come thus far to nurture the girls with your love. With love, you will conquer every thing. Congratulations to your family, and Welcome the girls to this wonderful world.
