Babies Situation:

The big challenge for the girls today was a spinal tap also referred to as lumbar puncture. Since our Doctors have not been able to figure out what is causing the seizures they want to rule out as much as they can including meningitis. The spinal tap helps them pull fluid. It is similar to a culture as this is sent off to the Lab and they will watch it for the next few days. They start up the antibiotics as well in case there is some type of infection. They no longer need the Bililight so the jaundice should no longer be a concern.

The great new to report today - Trinity's ventricular hemorrhage has resolved itself based on her most recent ultrasound. Trinity weighs in at 1 lb 9 ounces so she has gained a couple of ounces since her last weigh in. It is interesting how they weigh them. In each incubator there is a scale under the bed. Trinity also was doing pretty well with her breathing so she was taken off her ventilator.

Kinsley weighs 1 lb 5ounces and she is now starting back on caffeine. She has an increased rate for breathing but she is not on the ventilator. Kinsley is also increasing her feeds to 3 cc's every 3 hours.

Parent's Thoughts:

Prayers are being answered on Trinity's lingering brain hemorrhage as it seems to be resolving itself again. However, when Trena and I arrive in the NICU, our Doctor was giving Trinity her the spinal tap (shot to extract fluid from her spine). It is a bit of a surprise for us as we thought something was wrong. We are about 20 feet from the girls when we enter our Bay (where the girls are located in the NICU so all we could see is our Doctor in scrubs doing his job - slight shock but he just asked that we come back in 10 mins. Again it is a wait and see situation for the next few days. However, we are happy and thankful that our doctors are being as proactive about dealing with the potential of the infections.

Our Daily Encouragement:

I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands.
