Babies Situation:
Today has been a rough day for Trinity. Her blood culture grew something out within 12 hours showing she has an infection. The doctors do not know if she got the infection from her PIC line so it was removed today and a new IV was put in which is being used to give her 2 different antibiotics. Her feedings were stopped last night but the doctors plan to start her back tomorrow. She is getting chest and abdomen x-rays to ensure her lungs look OK and that there are no loops in her intestines. She was put back on the long prong CPAP and has been given a rate of 20 to help her breath as she rests and recovers. The plan is to remove her from the rate tomorrow. A blood culture will be taken each morning until it stops growing something out. She will be on antibiotics for at least 10 days. The good news is that she weighed 3 lbs 8 oz last night. Some of her weight gain could be water retention from being sick so we shall see. Kinsley has had a good day. She went up on her feedings to 30 cc's over 2 hours and is tolerating it well. Her pressure on her CPAP was reduced from 9 to 8. Her lungs are getting stronger!!
Parent's Thoughts:
Today was a tough day for us. We have had so many good days that this came as a big blow. Infections are so scary and dangerous, especially to a micro-preemie. Trinity has gone through so much in the last 7 weeks that it is heart wrenching to know she is sick again. Please pray for a speedy recovery. The doctors will also do a lumbar tap in the next few days to rule out meningitis-this is even scarier. We need to remember-God is in control.
Our Daily Encouragement:
May the Lord Bless You and Keep You, May His Face Shine Upon You, May He Be Gracious to You, and Give you Peace.
